Get to know yourself

This post is part of a series exploring the question “How can you stop the fear of making the wrong choice?”.

By spending time getting to know ourselves we can get really clear about what we want in our lives. Getting this clarity makes decisions making easier.

Getting to know yourself can look like many things, some possibilities include:

  • reflecting regularly on what is working and what isn’t working in your life

  • noting how you feel in certain circumstances or after certain decisions

  • taking personality or strength assessments as long as you also check the results with yourself to find what’s true for you

  • when something peaks your interest, follow it, and notice what happens as you do

The way you reflect on any of these things could be through:

  • conversations with friends

  • creating art

  • journaling

  • voice memos

  • voice typing (did you know this is built into Google Docs?)

  • mind mapping

To get to know yourself, find a way of reflecting that works for you. Do it consistently, whether that is yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, or daily, and jot down what you notice. Then you can use that information to make choices that feel right for you.

You may find you want someone to support you as you go through the process of getting to know yourself. You can schedule a compatibility conversation with me to see if coaching is the right fit for you.

And when getting to know yourself isn’t enough?

I suggest you get quiet. Really, quiet and check in with yourself. More on that soon.
