Find your way to reflect and look ahead to 2020
You’ve probably seen a ton of posts about getting ready for a new year and decade. I am finding it both encouraging and overwhelming all at once. I love a fresh start, but I also want to just skip the whole thing because it feels like so much at a busy time of year.
To make it easier for you, I’ve rounded up some resources you can use as we move into the next decade. Different things work for different people or at different times in our lives. These are all the things I’ve been considering and using as I reflect on the past year and the past decade and look forward to 2020.
Want to feel more courageous in 2020 and have a document to support you all year long? Checkout @katecourageous’s Courageous Living Planner. Kate is amazing and working with her through #teamCLCC certainly made me more courageous. I highly recommend the planner, which you can sign up to get here: https://www.yourcourageouslife.com/begin/
Do you like to set goals, and would rather listen to audios? Use the inspiring @jodimflynn’s Goals that are Worthy of You podcast episode as a guide: https://womentakingthelead.com/worthy-goals/. This was recorded to prepare for 2018, but believe me, this all still applies.
If you want video training, worksheets and an online group, check out @kimkimballcoaching‘s Free 5 Day Challenge, 2020 Vision. Kim is a powerful coach and will be a great guide.
If you prefer thinking about things in terms of how you want to feel, see @daniellelaporte’s @desiremap here: https://www.thedesiremap.com/2020
If you want to see an example of “auditing” your life, see @muchelleb’s youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyhhySG_RtU
Want a 3 part series with a fun video delivery? Start @marieforleo’s Decade in Review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNFO94c9lC8&t=441s.
If you want one on one support as you go use these resources, or something you create, reach out to me directly at sarahlymancoaching@gmail.com or send me a direct message on Instagram. I’d love to hear what you are considering and where you are stuck.
If you don’t have time to use these resources, here are the most common questions to ask yourself as you reflect over the past year and decade:
What has gone well in the past year or decade? Important: Remember to find a small or big way to celebrate these things!
What do you want to learn from the past year or decade?
What do you want moving forward?
I know taking a bit of time to reflect can help us move forward in 2020 with less fear about getting things wrong.
I suggest doing this soon, if you can, and then revisiting it in early January. You can quickly answer these 3 questions with just a few words or phrases, or you can make it as long as you want.
This is what’s working for me right now. I encourage you to find your easeful process to reflect and move forward. Maybe you consider a few areas of your life, such as relationships, how you spend your time, wellbeing, finances, or career. Maybe, you’ll focus on just one.
I hope this helps as you find a way to celebrate all that you’ve done, learn from the past, and identify what you want moving forward.
